1. Where Your Data Lives: Browser LocalStorage

InvoiceFree is engineered as a static, client-side web application. All calculations, template rendering, and PDF generation occur directly on your local device CPU.

When you edit an invoice or save drafts, your browser writes that information to its own local origin storage (localStorage). This allows you to close your browser tab and return later without losing your work.

2. What Is Stored Locally On Your Device

• Current Draft: The values you type into the invoice form (business name, client address, line items, rates, taxes, and notes).
• Invoice History: A record of up to 50 recent invoices you have created or saved, including invoice numbers, dates, and calculated totals.
• Uploaded Logo: Your image file is converted into a local Base64 string and stored in your browser's quota.
• User Preferences: Your preferred template (e.g. Modern, Classic) and selected accent color.

3. What We Never Collect or Transmit

• We never receive or store your client contact details.
• We never record your billing rates, invoices, or revenue numbers.
• We never ask for or store Social Security Numbers (SSNs), bank login credentials, or credit card numbers.
• We do not sell, rent, or monetize your data with third parties or data brokers.

4. Storage Limits & Automatic Archival

Modern web browsers enforce an origin storage quota of approximately 5 MB. To protect your data:

• InvoiceFree continuously monitors your storage utilization and displays a visual meter in the History drawer.
• If storage approaches 80% of capacity (~4 MB), the application automatically compresses older invoice history items into archived entries (archive_YYYYMMDD), preventing data corruption.
• You can export a complete JSON backup of your records at any time.

5. How to Clear All Stored Data

You have full, autonomous control over your data. To permanently delete all stored invoices and business profiles from your browser:

1. Click the History button in the top navigation bar.
2. Click the red Clear All Data button.
3. Confirm the dialog. All records in localStorage are immediately and irreversibly purged.

Alternatively, clearing your browser's site cookies and local storage for this website via your browser settings will also wipe all local data.

6. Analytics & Third Parties

InvoiceFree does not load third-party ad trackers, invasive analytics SDKs, or social media tracking pixels. Our static hosting provider may record standard server access logs (such as request IP and user-agent) strictly for network security, DDoS prevention, and edge cache optimization.

7. Advertising

InvoiceFree currently shows no advertisements and loads no advertising cookies or trackers. If advertising (for example Google AdSense) is added in the future, this policy will be updated before ads go live to explain what cookies that provider may use, how personalised advertising can be switched off, and where to find that provider's own privacy information. No invoice data will be shared with an advertising provider.
